Tennis stars arriving in Melbourne for the Australian Open will be read the riot act about match-fixing after a teenager was charged over alleged cheating at a country Victorian tournament.
An 18-year-old Queensland player was today charged with match-fixing related to suspicious bets placed on a Victorian tournament with a prize pool of more than $68,000.
Sporting integrity intelligence unit detectives and licensed Australian bookmakers assisted with the investigation into bets placed on the Latrobe City Traralgon ATP Challenger on October 16.
Police and Tennis Australia today remained tight-lipped about what activity led to the charges or how authorities were tipped off.
